Red River Gorge

RRG is a favorite place to visit for climbers, hikers, and kayakers alike! 

Our recommended way to stay is renting one of the GORGEous treehouses available throughout the gorge! You can check them out here

RRG is also home to Natural Bridge a sandstone rock bridge that is 65 feet in height and 78 feet in length and is the most visited arch in the state of Kentucky!

Red River Adventure offers several kayak and canoe tour options on the Red River.   Jumping Rock swimming hole is a must on the river!

RRG offers miles and miles of trails ranging from beginner to advanced! Here are the top ten trails to see while you visit

Indian Staircase and Indian Arch 3.5 miles – difficult
Whittleton Arch 2.5 miles – easy
Double Arch, Star Gap Arch, Arch of Triumph 5.6 miles – moderate
Gray’s Arch 4.0 miles – easy
Auxier Ridge & Courthouse Rock 5.0 miles- moderate
Natural Bridge & Laurel Ridge Trail 3.0 miles – easy
Silvermine Arch & Hidden Arch 5.1 miles – moderate
Turtle Back Arch & Rock Bridge 4.0 miles – moderate
Rock Bridge Loop 1.5 miles – easy
Chimney Top Rock, Princess Arch, & Half Moon Arch 1.8 miles – easy

If you are a rock climbing enthusiast look no further! RRG is world-renown as one of the best rock climbing locations anywhere! When you are finished with your climbs for the day be sure to stop at Miguel’s pizza to fuel up and enjoy and an ice-cold Ale-8! 

Lake Cumberland & Cumberland Falls

Lake Cumberland is a 2.5 hour trip from Hazard, KY, and has plenty of options for anyone who loves the water! You can enjoy boating, fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and much much more! If you don’t want to be on the water they have plenty of parks, and trails to keep you busy. They offer a variety of cabin rentals to stay for a long weekend trip and a variety of restaurants, wineries, and breweries to enjoy if you don’t want to do any cooking. Cumberland Falls is a bit closer with only a 2 hour trip from Hazard. It is often called the little Niagara or the Niagara of the south. It is perfect for any outdoor lover as it offers a wide range of hiking trails, wildlife, rafting adventures, and amazing views! Be sure to plan a night trip to catch the moonbow, but be sure to check the dates when it will be visible here! You can also find lodging and all of the events happening in the park!

Mammoth Cave National Park

Mammoth Cave National Park is a beautiful and amazing destination that is only a 3 hour trip from Hazard, KY! It is the world’s longest known cave system with more than 400 miles of surveyed passageways! Plan your trip to tour the caves, hike, kayak, and more
